The Script
Synopsis
Decades after the Great Collapse, a global war that fractured the planet and poisoned the sky, humanity teeters on the edge of extinction. The sun is an unrelenting tyrant, radiation bakes the surface, and water—scarce and contaminated—is life’s cruelest currency. The ruins of the old world lie in the shadow of towering dunes, and what remains of society is controlled by ruthless biker gangs who enforce their dominion with brutality and fear. In this post-apocalyptic wasteland, the few who survive live as scavengers, slaves, or outlaws.

Amid the chaos, Rook, a grim, scarred scavenger with a haunted past, drifts between the ruins of the once-great city of Vegas, scavenging for water and parts to keep his jury-rigged survival bike running. He has no interest in heroism or rebellion—he survives by staying out of the way. But when a chance encounter pulls him into a conspiracy surrounding a hidden water cache deep in the radioactive desert, Rook becomes the reluctant protector of Kade, a fiery young mechanic with the knowledge to unlock the cache. Pursued by the brutal Death Valley Kings, the largest biker gang in Vegas, Rook must decide whether to keep running or take a stand against the gang's brutal leader, Gunner, whose personal vendetta threatens to destroy them all.

As Rook and Kade venture deeper into the irradiated wasteland, they uncover buried truths about the war that destroyed the world—and Rook's own role in it. What begins as a desperate bid for survival becomes a journey of redemption, rebellion, and sacrifice, culminating in a high-octane battle for control of Pyre and the fate of its people.

Character Bios
Rook
Full Name: Elias "Rook" Grant
Age: 42
Appearance: Thin but muscular, with sharp, haunted eyes that betray years of pain and survival. His face is marred by scars, and he often hides it behind a respirator mask. His black hair is streaked with gray, and his skin is weathered from years under the brutal sun. He wears patchwork armor cobbled together from scavenged military gear and biker leathers, giving him a rugged, intimidating appearance.
Personality: Rook is a deeply flawed antihero, defined by his pragmatism and moral ambiguity. Cynical and calculating, he lives by a single creed: survive at all costs. Despite his cold exterior, a buried sense of guilt and a forgotten capacity for empathy drive his actions, even when he resists it. He’s a man running from his past, his loyalties fractured, and his sense of self-worth almost nonexistent.

Background
Pre-Apocalypse:
Elias "Rook" Grant grew up in a small industrial town, dreaming of escaping the monotony of life in a dying world. As tensions between global superpowers escalated, he enlisted in the military, eager to make something of himself. Rook excelled in the harsh realities of combat, becoming a reconnaissance specialist. He earned the nickname "Rook" for his ability to infiltrate enemy lines and strategize like a chess player on the battlefield.

It was during his time in the military that he crossed paths with Gunner, then known as Staff Sergeant Lucas Cain. Gunner was everything Rook wasn’t: brash, loud, and charismatic, but also fiercely competitive. While Rook relied on careful planning and precision, Gunner thrived in chaos, using brute force and intimidation to command respect. Despite their different styles, they became reluctant partners on high-risk missions, constantly trying to outdo each other.

The rivalry grew personal when Rook was promoted to lead a crucial mission Gunner believed he deserved. The mission was a catastrophic failure, ending with the accidental detonation of a nuclear device that obliterated an entire city and triggered the global war. Gunner blamed Rook for the deaths of their unit and the world’s descent into chaos. The fallout of that day fractured their relationship forever.

The Collapse:
As the world spiraled into anarchy following the nuclear exchange, Rook deserted the remnants of the military, disillusioned and haunted by the weight of his mistakes. He wandered the wasteland, scavenging and surviving alone, refusing to form bonds or take sides. The guilt of his perceived failures—both on the battlefield and in allowing the world to crumble—ate away at him.

Unbeknownst to Rook, Gunner thrived in the post-apocalyptic world. Using his natural charisma and military ruthlessness, Gunner rose to power, becoming the leader of the Death Valley Kings. Over the years, Gunner has consolidated his rule through fear, brutality, and a relentless pursuit of control. To Gunner, Rook is a symbol of everything he hates: failure, betrayal, and weakness.
